Lack Of Inspiration

I constantly go through many "brain farts" when it comes to gathering ideas for photography. As of right now I am currently stuck and stressed. The pressure that finals have created for me is unbelievable. I technically have two weeks to work on my final portfolios and the thought of it makes my stomach hurt.
However, whenever I feel this way I tend to take a trip down to the library or perhaps online to go back to those photographers that made me realize how much I really love what I am studying. They help me feel a bit better about my lack of creativity at times.
As my professor, Mike, always tells me, "Don't put your eggs in one basket." He explains to me that I should shoot and not necessarily work towards an idea. The funny thing is that I keep a moleskine full of ideas and the exact executions I have for them. I feel more comfortable having an idea and working from that.
Here are some pieces of work that inspire to continue without a single idea written on my little journal of thoughts:

Absense. Technical Portfolio. Finals.

First and foremost, I want to apologize for my absence. I have been terribly busy with school and it there doesn't seem to be calm seas ahead. However I wanted to update with everything I have been doing.Last week, we turned in a Technical Portfolio for Photo II. It pretty much includes everything we've worked on during this semester.
Apart from everything we've done, I had the pleasure of learning how to make fiber prints and to print in large scales (on 11 x 14 and 16 x 20 paper).
Anyway, here is some of the work. Remember, you can click it to make it bigger.

Upcoming projects &The Sartorialist

First and foremost, I wanted to congratulate my best friend Graciela for getting an interview with Scott Schuman for her school newspaper.

This image was taken by smoothdude.

Here is also an image from his blog.
(Which I check EVERY DAY.)

He is absolutely fahhhbulous!

In other news, there has been a lot going on. I have been shooting a lot, but I have not taken the time to print the images I want. I really want to get that done because I know I have some shots that I really like.
I have also been brainstorming for my final project for Photo II and Digital Imaging. I feel as though they are some good ideas and I am beyond excited to work on them. I would like to go ahead and thank the models ahead of time, because I know they will be AMAZING! So thank you models.
I am excited to be able to present these images to you as soon as possible. So for now people hold tight and bear with me. Thanks!

Hands & Feet, Digital Imaging, and Fall

Yay I couldn't be happier with the weather lately. It's finally fall and its cool and wet. Although everyone is getting sick, I think its still great that lately we haven't had to deal with the nasty heat. So, cheers with the cool weather! Yay weather for tights! :D

I apologize for not having updated recently, but I have been really busy with my photography classes and with all my other basic ones. However, I wanted to update you all with some images I took.
For Photo II we had an assignment called Hands and Feet. The image had to have our hand or foot in it some way or the other. However, I have been lazy and was only interested in a few of the pictures I took. My professor did like the way I shot and found it to be humorous. She encouraged me to stick with that style and have fun shooting.
(You may click any picture posted here to view them in a larger form)

As for Digital Imaging, I was having some difficulty with my images. I wasn't too fond of them and I was not really appreciating what I had shot. After a meeting with my professor, I got an urge to go out and shoot what I like to shoot and not simply shoot because I have to. This definitely helped me a lot. In about less than an hour I have my first critique for this class and I admit to being a bit nervous, but excited. I hope to learn some new tips from my classmates and I cannot wait to see what they think of my photography.

Capture El Paso '09

Hello! So there has been this project called Capture El Paso in which El Pasoans can ad pictures to a website and people vote for the best and those chosen will be added into a book.
I had heard of this last year and I had completely forgotten it until now! So I have decided to add 3 pictures and hope they get voted on. It's ok if they don't haha.
Of course you have join in to vote, but it's not a 100 step process or anything. It would just be really cool if some people could vote on my pictures. So check it out!
If you click the images, they will take you to the individual pages to vote for them.

New Enlargers!

So today during my Photo II class we had lab orientation once again. They've changed a lot of it! It was very exciting to see how much they actually moved things around. We also have some new enlargers which is completely awesome. I just have to relearn how to use them. I think one of the things I definitely am looking forward to using is fiber paper. It will definitely change the quality of the print and stuff so I am way way excited for it. I still need to edit some pictures that I have left over from El Paso and I also need to start shooting asap for class. I am quite excited :D
So more pictures will be posted up soon, for now I am just getting through with the first week :D Yay!

As I went through one of my favorite blogs, Homotography, I found this picture of Ash Stymest & Sasha Pivovarova by Steven Meisel. I am not a big fan of Ash (sorry Nacho!!) but I thought this cover of Vogue Italia was awesome. The colors are eye-catching and the expressions are awesome.

Music Motivates

One shoot down and two more to go! I really enjoyed editing Jesus' photo shoot because there was some variety in the pictures. It was quite funny remembering what he would say about the pictures. He is very shy and was always embarrassed about people seeing him. Of course, I didn't get tired of seeing his pictures because of the different outfits he had and the different positions he would try. In general, I really enjoyed working with Jesus and I hope he enjoyed working with me.

Lessons Learned: Even the shyest of people can take good pictures. A good iTunes playlist always helps speed editing up.

(Reminder: You can click the pictures to view them larger)

Edit: I don't like how Blogger destroys the quality of my pictures. So I might end up changing it up.

Packing, Editing, & Photoshoots

In the midst of all three, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything I need to do. EEK!
I leave for Austin this Saturday, which isn't that bad but I have TONS of editing to do. I finally finished editing Jazmine's photos, but I had three other shoots that I did that I must edit!
So I'm sorry I'm lacking posts, but I hope you all forgive me haha.
Anyway, here are some images of Jazmine that I really liked.

A Small Break From Editing

Today I took a small break from editing Jazmine's photos in order to have a half El Paso day with Gina and Gracie. It was a lot of fun. Here are some photos from today. (You can click them to see them larger)

Oh, and I am almost done with Jazmine's photos so I'll post those up soon :D

Photo shoot in the heat.

Today I had a photo shoot with a high school friend, Jazmine. She is currently shooting with different photographers around the city collecting photos for her modeling portfolio. I wish her the best of luck and I will slowly but surely be posting the pictures on my Flickr. So keep an eye out! :D

Welcome/ Bienvenidos

Hello readers!(All 2 of them)

This blog had previously began as a music blog in which I wrote about any live performances that I had attended. Unfortunately, I didn't go far with it. Being that I had tried out various ways of blogging (Wordpress & Tumblr being only few), I believe that this page will only be my "work, thoughts, and inspirations" rather than just a collection of pictures being posted without explanation.

My Tumblr is still active and will be a collection of photographs and music found around the web. My Wordpress, unfortunately, does not exist anymore. If you are happening to read this through Facebook (as RSS feed), you can come and look at this blog at www.standtallandgrow.blogspot.com

So I hope that I can keep up with this baby for a while. Good luck to me! & thanks for reading this.
